Bio

I was born in the small town of Solingen, Germany and our  family  moved  to Winnipeg  in the mid-60s. Even at a very young age I had a desire to create things. The need for self-expression in my adult life led  me to painting, which I’ve been actively pursuing for about 20 years. My early profession as a Draftsperson taught me perspective and composition;  two elements key to portraying the work I do on canvas. Having been an avid photographer for as long as I can remember, I rely mostly on my photos to give me incentive and ideas for a new project. It’s human nature to try and make sense of what we see, therefore my approach to a subject matter is to portray it in a realistic way. The focus is on balance, simplicity and depth; all are essential to my work. Another long-term hobby of mine is growing bonsai trees (specifically 'Tanuki'). They represent the enduring spirit of nature and  I enjoy the back-and-forth collaboration with these miniature trees. I am truly grateful to be living out here on the coast and I seldom reach a dead end in terms of inspiration for what I am passionate about!
